For 20 years, Elise Maes Le Goff has been transmitting a very "down to earth approach" to yoga that can be practiced on and off the mat with humor, precision and joy. She enjoys a fluid yoga practice where breath and movement unite in a complete mind-body experience.

Elise has a extensive and varied teaching experience. She was trained by internationally reknown teachers and for the last 20 years she has also been getting tremendous input from translating workshops and trainings, and from assisting and teaching with inspiring figures in the international yoga community. Elise has studied different key aspects of yoga practice with special emphasis on biomechanics, therapeutic yoga, yoga history and philosophy.

Elise has over 1000 training hours. After a first training in Vinyasa Yoga with Gérard Arnaud who gave her a precise sense of rigorous alignment, Elise discovered the magic of Anusara Yoga with John Friend whom she studied with and translated for many years. Elise also attended and translated Yoga Teachers' Trainings led by Chris Chavez, Sianna Sherman, Christie Nones, Sundari, Christine McArdle where she gained strong knowledge in therapeutics and biomechanics.

Elise studied yoga philosophy and meditation with Carlos Pomeda and Professor Douglas Brooks. She has also translated and/or participated in a great number of workshops with great yoga teachers such as Patthabi Jois, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea, Anne Vandewalle, Marc Holsman, Bo Forbes, Shanon Gannon, Seane Corn, Jason Nemer. Elise has herself trained dozens of yoga teachers.

Elise gets her inspiration mostly from Shambhala Buddhism that she has been practicing and studying for over 10 years. She is the founder of the local Shambhala Buddhist Meditation Group and she co-teaches medidation retreats at Dechen Choling, the European Shambhala Retreat Center.

Elise is a Shambhala meditation instructor and teaches Meditation in Everyday Life and Contentment in Everyday Life as part of the Shambhala path. She has staffed a great number of meditation retreats and has translated Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and senior teachers such as Acharya Adam Lobel, Acharya Matthias Pongraz and Shastri Catherine Eveillard. She is a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

A passion for sports

Elise is a seasoned trail runner, triathlete and all mountain adventuror. She lives her athletic endeavors just like her yoga practice with discipline, joy and a sense of humor.

Among her many races, she made 3rd place in her group at the Marseille Marathon in 2015, 3rd place as well at the Marseille Triathlon the same year. She finished the Aix Half Ironman in 6 hours in 2013 and the Vichy full Ironman in 13:20 hours in 2015. In 2017, she finished the mythical Monte Cristo, a 5km open water swim in the Mediterranean in 1:33 hr. She has podiumed multiple times in her age group in local trail races.

Her real passion lies in the moutains where she runs a lot, especially ultra distances. She loves long, strenous efforts, and climbing high. In January 2020, Elise summited Aconcagua (6962m) led by the awsome mountaineer Sunny Stroer.

Elise is a member of the prestigious SWAP team (Some Work All Play) founded by ultra runners and US champions David and Megan Roche. She is coached by Megan who provides daily support and a lot of fun ways to enjoy running.

Professional activity

Alongside her yogic and athletic activities, Elise works as an English Professor at Aix Marseille University. After studying for her Ph.D in French literature and philosophy at Boston University, Elise got her agrégation –a prestigious French teaching certificate– in English and taught at the Paris University as well as Avignon, Toulon and Orléans universities.

Elise lives in Aix en Provence with her son Noah and surrounded by a wonderful and joyous group of friends.
